The Realm began its first full year on the tides of change. The winter was harsh for all of the land, and New Caledonia scarcely had the resources to make it until the dawn of spring — yet somehow they persevered. The first Call to Court took place in January, with Kalypso Savoy and Torabera Tanaka acting as the sun and moon for their ceremony. Despite a hiccup with a missing blade, the sun emerged victorious and vanquished the moon for another year. The relationship between Salsola and New Caledonia was strengthened at the event, as the Kingdom was invited to partake in their ceremony as a show of thanks for their first trade.
Sadly the realm was met with their first loss, and in February Thyri Dawnbringer passed away shortly after childbirth, leaving her surviving husband to raise their children alone. As winter thawed, New Caledonians, invigorated by the warming seasons, took on a slew of new pack projects and represented the Realm favorably abroad: at home, a budding Dye Studio began to take root, and several pack members performed well at Casa di Cavalieri’s spring tournament.
However, at the height of summer, the Lord-Regent mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a considerable hole. While the Realm fought for normalcy in the wake of the Eryn’s sudden departure, many members began to trickle into the upper echelon of Caledonian society; nobles earned their respected titles of High Lord and Lady. It was also at this time that Caledonia experienced a population boom. A slew of puppies were born, representing a new generation of nobles and proving that they were a land of bounty. A travelling entourage met with a group of Plague Doctors who heralded a potential plague. Caledonia was able to trade for some of their 'cures' in an attempt to protect themselves for an illness that never came.
In August the once-fledging pack celebrated their first full year, and the autumn brought with it a foreboding and uncertain mist, though it was not nearly as dire as the fall of yesteryear. Moths infiltrated the City Square and peskily fluttered into Caledonians homes. The tail end of autumn brought the return of The King's Daughter, Indis Nartholiel, after a mysterious separation from her family.
Winter was relatively quiet as Caledonians prepared for the inevitable change that comes with a new year — and 2021 is bound to be rife with it as the Call to Court is right around the corner. May the gods watch over us as stalwart protectors in 2021!
Krokar had fallen before she had come of age, and a notable portion of her childhood was marred by disaster and the action of radical believers.
To her, there was less magic in the act of sailing than others might think. Wood floated – she had seen this multiple times over – and grass, too, did not sink all at once. Something about combining them would ensure enough force to keep a body above the water. Sailing was as much logic as it was faith, and experience tempered both.

Inga, though, either didn't reach the same conclusion or didn't care to preemptively mollify the scarred man. She was like that sometimes -- defiant and rebellious and self-assured -- and Sólveig admired it, even when it put them at odds.

"Its so quiet now." An eternity passed before he blinked again and saltwater raindrops fell from his eyes. "I don't know what to do." Not with their bodies, not with his memories, not with himself or his grief or the gaping bleeding red-raw rip in chest that laid open his heart. Where did he go from here? Where did any of them go from here?

“Consiler Fenor—” They must have meant Fennore. “—thinks Calan…” Her lips twisted into a confused frown. Brikur? She knew the blonde dog, Calan, had a funny last name—Naomi still struggled to pronounce it properly with the strange twists it had—but, was that really how it was spelt? Skipping over the word, she continued, “…is…” Her facial features shifted quickly into an expression of amused mirth. “Hot?”

Sólveig wrapped her lips around their milk-sister's name for Teagan. Okaasan. She whispered it, the sound like a breath of wind through thin branches, and smiled.

Valan did not want to unravel the mysteries nor to find out how to manipulate the strings into a new image. He wanted part of what had already been undone, he wanted to be the picture before it realized it was a picture.
