Casa di Cavalieri

The new year for Casa came with some winter joy! Over the course of January, the pack took part in some friendly Winter Games, allowing pack members both young and old to enjoy some light-hearted challenges around the snow; from snowball fights to games of tag! In February, Honrin and Guinevere were finally able to start their family, welcoming their daughter, Artoia to the world.

With March coming along and weather growing fairer, the pack were introduced to some new changes and exciting announcements. To demonstrate their willingness to change and adapt, the leadership announced a significant change to how young members were judged. Previously only trialed by their combat ability during their First Blood, young Cavaliers were now to be given a Purple Sash and a chance to prove themselves capable in more than just combat. The pack also began clearing up and improving the town of Wolfville, with the hopes of turning it into a place for travelers to visit and Cavaliers to live in.

As Spring came along, the Cavaliers began preparations for something big. Previously, Casa had hosted tournaments for other packs to come and demonstrate their fighting ability. This year however, Casa wanted to give a chance for more skills to be showcased, and more opportunities for others to get involved. In April, the ‘Souls Olympic Games were announced, to be hosted by Casa and held in Wolfville. All packs were invited, and for the first time Loners and Loner Bands were also welcome to take part. The event took a few months of preparation, and the games began in June with a total of nine events, plus a fun drinking competition on the side.

The overall winners of the event were New Caledonia, who took home an impressive haul of prizes thanks to the hard work of their athletes!

Of course, fun games weren’t all June brought to Casa. The Cavaliers were actually fairly busy during the early summer months, populating the pack with many new additions! Indeed, June welcomed twelve new puppies to Casa: Lyra, Ambrose, Veyron, Zanthe, Lunatini, Vezdatini, Kazimir, Roza, Alyonna, Katja, Celeste and Electa!

Once the Games came to a close, Casa experienced a couple of months of peace. In August, Speciality Co-Ranks and Pack Projects were introduced for ways to get more involved in the pack.

The joys of summer came crashing down in September however, as Chief Cleric Veri succumbed to an injury and passed away. The pack mourned her death and the shock rattled the pack for some time. However as Casa reached its 10th anniversary, celebration returned to the air.

October brought a new Banner system for members to enter and participate in, the promotion of Aelin into the Brotherhood, as well as an exciting Feast at the end of the month to celebrate a decade of existence. This joyous occasion however was not as planned, as on the night of the event, numerous Cavaliers collapsed ill or dead!

The Poisoning brought Casa plummeting, with tragic losses hitting members hard. Minerva, Tlamatini, Isaac and Morty were all killed by the sudden attack, and an investigation took place to find the cause. Upon discovering poison added to the food, three individuals who performed for Casa were tried, but not enough evidence was found in order to declare anyone guilty. In the wake of the trial, Eros Damaichu was given the role as Keeper of Whispers and tasked with continuing the investigation in private, for however long it might take to find an answer.

Although the deaths and shock still ripple through Casa, December brought changes in the form of the summer pups gaining their mentors and Zetsubou and Pushok entering the Brotherhood.

"I, uh…" was all she managed before she was suddenly upright on top of the table, the arm of the Ashen wrapped around her waist in a most sensual manner, and the room went wild.

"Casa has g-gone through many changes... s-some not as good a-as others. I think... the best w-way to view things, especially history, is th-that nothing is perfect, and m-maybe imperfections just make the things we value e-even more special, so long a-as we give them a chance." Borya explained.

"For a long time I hated the scars, they reminded me of what happened and made me feel weak, weak for getting caught. But I eventually learnt something... Nothing that happened that day was my fault. Perhaps I took a risk that I could have avoided, but I wasn't to know what was going to happen to stop myself. I was not at fault. You are not at fault. The ones to blame are those who tried to take hold of our actions and do wicked and awful things with them."

Luna scoffed lightly. "Oh I am, I'm miserable... I guess I just don't see much point in crying about it though. Not whilst we have so much to do. No time for being lazy. Ugh, I'd love to just lie down all day like before."

Pray tell, what if it was just an accident? What if it wasn’t ? We point fingers at these outsiders, because they’re outsiders, and I can’t believe, I, of all people am saying this, but they did no harm before the feast.“

It felt as if she were dreaming. The tri-coloured daughter approached the grave of the parent whose pelt she inherited, and upon looking down saw a lie. It struck her again that he did not look as if he was restful or sleeping, and his eyes, closed by a gentle hand - for Mahigul was certain that her father died with eyes wide open, as she herself one day would - only made this whole presentation further feel like a mockery of life. She parted her lips to speak to the corpse, but such a vertigo came over her that she thought she would surely plummet into the dirt pit which was now to be her father's home. [...] She felt such an ugly thing hatch in her chest. With time, she would face this beast, groom it and saddle it, and its name would be Grief. But then, its sheer hideousness repulsed her, and the child turned her back on the that which spawned it.

"Well... my interests are more like goals I guess... I want to protect others, but more in the way you protect them. My family are all so well known for being fighters but I don't want to just be some strong knight. I want others to feel safe and happy, healthy and alive. My mother, Minerva, had that desire too... so I'd like to carry it on in her place."

For months he had hidden them both in the shadows, some shameful secret he couldn’t allow to come out. His long claws raked into her skin under the cover of darkness, taking all that he wanted. And she had let him. But not anymore. No more. She would make him scream. She would make him cry and beg for forgiveness for humiliating her. She would make this right. All Wither saw was red when she barreled into him, knocking him to the ground as her jaws sought the flesh behind his high collar.
